The Bundesliga outfit value the defender at £15 million and the west Londoners are keen to secure the services of the youngster to Stamford Bridge.
He has established as one of the hottest stars of the German league last season and helped Augsburg finish fifth and secure a place in Europa League next season.
Rahman concluded the season as the seventh-best player according the Bundesliga’s official player rankings index.
It is believed that Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis is keen on a move back to Atletico Madrid this summer and Rahman could be the defender to replace him at the west London.
