Barcelona’s Dani Alves on Liverpool and Manchester United radar

The Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Manchester United are both reportedly interested to secure the services of Barcelona defender Dani Alves at the end of this season, reports the Daily Express.

The 31-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of next season and will be available as a free agent, with New Barca manager Luis Enrique has no plans on renewing his contract at the Camp Nou.

The report suggested that the Reds will chase the Brazilian full-back as a replacement for Glen Johnson, whose contract expires in 2015.

Brendan Rodgers and Louis van Gaal both may negotiate with Alves’s representatives in January with a view to luring him on a short-term contract next summer for the 2015/2016 season.

Alves has made 299 appearances since joining Barca from Sevilla in 2008 and has won four La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.
