Liverpool plot £25m Markovic raid

Liverpool are ready to make a £25m bid for Benfica winger Lazar Markovic, with the player thought to be keen on a switch to Merseyside this summer, according to the Mirror.

The Serbian international has established himself as one of European football’s brightest talents, scored one goal in eight Europa League appearances for the Portuguese giants last term, as a result attracted a number of Premier League clubs including Chelsea.

The 20-year-old youngster is also thought to be keen on making the move to Anfield and it is believed that Merseyside boss Brendan Rodgers is desperately looking to secure Markovic’s signature ahead of next season, whom he has been tracking for a number of months.

Rodgers wants to make the top class addition of a midfielder to his squad this summer and a priority will be for competing in the Champions League campaign next season.

However it’s understood if a deal is completed, then the Reds wouldn’t be looking for Southampton star Adam Lallana.
