Manchester United are preparing a summer swoop for Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports from Daily Star.
The report claims that United representatives were in France to hold talks about the Uruguayan international.
However, it was believed that the 27-year-old striker was reluctant to join the defending Premier League champions due to their exclusion from the Champions League.
But following with the news of Moyes’ sack on Monday, United board believes they could overturn Cavani’s decision to join the club this summer.
Cavani joined PSG in a £40m deal from Napoli last summer, since then he has struggled to settle in France and is keen to join a club that would prefer him to play as a central striker.
A move to Old Trafford will give United a much needed boost for a place in the Champions League next season.
