Southampton plot Portugal starlet swoop?

Southampton are reportedly plotting a £15 million bid for Braga midfielder Rafa Silva before the current transfer window closes on February 2, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The Portugal international, who has earned three caps to his country and was named in Portugal’s 23-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup last year.

The report claims that the Saints boss Ronald Koeman is looking for an attacking midfielder who can play on either wing when required and the 21-year-old’s is seems to be the ideal man to land at St Mary’s Stadium.

However, Koeman would have to pay €20 million (release clause) and could face a stiff competition from La Liga club Sevilla for Silva’s signature.

Silva, whose current contract is valid until 2018, has scored twice in 16 league appearances for the Portuguese outfit this season.
