Chelsea are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Ansu Fati, with super-agent Jorge Mendes set to hold talks with the Barcelona winger to map out his future.

According to journalist Helena Condis Edo, Ansu Fati is on Chelsea’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window. Mendes, currently in Barcelona to negotiate a new deal for Lamine Yamal, is also expected to speak with Fati about his next career move. Despite once being labelled the next Lionel Messi, Fati has struggled to meet expectations due to a string of unfortunate injuries.

A Career in Need of Revival

Fati’s 2023 loan switch to Brighton was seen as a fresh start, but the stint failed to ignite his career. After yet another injury-hit season, he has only featured in 11 matches for Barcelona, totalling just 298 minutes. New manager Hansi Flick seems unconvinced, further casting doubt on his long-term future at the Camp Nou.

Chelsea See Opportunity in Bargain Deal

Chelsea, who are in the market for attacking reinforcements, view Fati as a potential low-risk, high-reward option—possibly on a loan with an option to buy. With Jadon Sancho’s future uncertain, the Blues could swoop in for Fati as a cut-price alternative.
