Everton Plot Ambitious Swoop for Ethan Nwaneri

Everton have reportedly opened talks over a move for Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri, according to the Daily Mail.

Nwaneri’s Arsenal Journey So Far

A product of the Gunners’ academy, Nwaneri burst onto the scene as a 15-year-old when he made his first-team debut back in 2022. Since then, breaking into Mikel Arteta’s starting XI has proven far tougher.

He enjoyed a breakout 2024/25 campaign, stepping up during Bukayo Saka’s injury spell to score nine goals and add two assists across all competitions. However, the summer arrivals of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze pushed him further down the pecking order. A loan move to Olympique de Marseille in January was meant to offer regular football, but the teenager managed just three league starts in Ligue 1.

Toffees Join the Race for His Signature

With Arsenal now willing to sanction a loan exit before the September 1st deadline, Everton have made contact to explore the terms of a deal. They aren’t alone — RB Leipzig and Fulham have also registered interest, with the Cottagers reportedly checking on his availability too.

Arsenal are said to be reluctant to sell permanently, banking instead on incoming funds from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, whose contracts expire at season’s end.

What Nwaneri Would Offer Everton

A left-footed, versatile attacker comfortable across midfield and the right flank, Nwaneri brings close control, an eye for a killer pass, and defensive graft off the ball. Valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt, he remains one of English football’s most exciting young talents — one who may simply need a fresh environment to unlock his ceiling.
