Liverpool Join Race for Fulham Teenager Josh King as Arsenal and Man Utd Circle

Reds Eye January Move

Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for Fulham midfielder Josh King, according to Football Insider. The England Under-21 international is valued at £33m by Transfermarkt, and the Reds view the 19-year-old as an important long-term signing. They are now weighing up a potential swoop in January.

King’s Rapid Rise at Fulham

Having come through Fulham’s academy, King made his first-team debut in August 2024 and played 38 times last season under Marco Silva. This term, he has featured in all five Premier League games under new head coach Álvaro Arbeloa, scoring twice during a sluggish start for the Cottagers. His performances have caught the eye of several clubs.

Stiff Competition for Signature

Fulham are reluctant to sell given his importance, though the report suggests a 2027 exit is not ruled out if their struggles continue. Pete O’Rourke, speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, said King will be on the radar of numerous clubs, naming Arsenal, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona as other interested parties.

Is a January Deal Realistic for Liverpool?

King fits Liverpool’s blueprint of recruiting talented young players, but a January deal looks ambitious. Fulham rarely lose key men mid-season, particularly when they are battling to keep pace in the table.

The competition could also be a problem. With several European heavyweights reportedly watching, a bidding war might push the price well beyond £33m. A summer approach may be more realistic for the Reds, and the Merseyside club would need to move quickly if they want to get ahead of their rivals.

Liverpool host Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday, hoping to extend their unbeaten run.
