Liverpool lining up move for Josh Acheampong

Liverpool’s defensive rebuild this summer is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about stories heading into the transfer window — and the name at the centre of it all is Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong.

Here’s the snag. Transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke has dismissed speculation that Chelsea could sell Acheampong to Liverpool, stating the club has “no interest in sanctioning a sale” and simply does not want to lose him.

However, a lack of regular game time in 2026 has fuelled reports that Acheampong could push for a move to secure more consistent first-team football.

What Would It Take?

Chelsea have reportedly set an asking price of between £22m and £26m — potentially a bargain for a player of his calibre. Liverpool would also need to offer him a clear pathway into the starting XI to convince him Anfield is the right move.
