Manchester United Eyeing Bournemouth Left-Back Adrien Truffert for Summer Move

Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for AFC Bournemouth left-back Adrien Truffert, according to transfer insider David Ornstein.

Truffert’s Impressive Debut Season at Bournemouth

The Cherries signed the Frenchman from Stade Rennais last summer to fill the void left by Milos Kerkez’s switch to Liverpool. Truffert repaid that faith with a solid first campaign on the south coast, contributing six goal involvements and keeping 11 clean sheets across 39 appearances in all competitions. His performances helped Bournemouth secure sixth place and Europa League qualification.

Bournemouth Prepared to Resist Interest for Now

Speaking on The Athletic’s football podcast, Ornstein explained that new boss Marco Rose is keen to keep his best players this season, but that could change come next summer. Alongside Truffert, names such as Eli Junior Kroupi, Alex Scott and Rayan Cherki could also be moved on if the right offers arrive. Truffert remains contracted until 2030, and Bournemouth are said to be holding out for a fee close to £60million.

United’s Search for a Left-Back Solution

United have long been searching for a long-term successor to Luke Shaw, whose Old Trafford career has been hampered by repeated injuries. A deal for a left-back didn’t materialise over the summer window, but the club are expected to revisit the position next year. Ornstein noted that few clubs strengthened at left-back this window, suggesting a genuine market gap that suits a player of Truffert’s profile heading into 2027.

Patrick Dorgu was brought in as cover, though Michael Carrick has mostly deployed him further forward, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui remain natural right-backs filling in when required.

In my view, Truffert looks a shrewd, forward-thinking target. He’s young, already Premier League-tested, and fits the profile of a modern, attacking full-back United have lacked since Shaw’s peak years. The bigger question is whether Old Trafford’s hierarchy will actually follow through with a concrete bid.
