Manchester United step up pursuit of Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United are accelerating their interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, as new manager Ruben Amorim looks to reinforce his forward line ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

According to Absolut Fussball, United are preparing to open concrete negotiations for the Slovenian striker, who remains on the market after a proposed move to Arsenal collapsed earlier in the window. Amorim is reportedly keen to bring in a prolific No.9, with current options Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to impress.

Amorim Eyes Key Reinforcements After Bryan Mbeumo Signing

United have already secured key signings this summer, including Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Matheus Cunha from Wolves. With wide and creative areas now strengthened, Amorim is shifting his focus to the centre-forward role.

Despite exploring moves for Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres, United have yet to land their ideal frontman. Their interest in Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has cooled, making Sesko a top priority.

Sesko’s Failed Arsenal Move Opens Door for United

Sesko’s failed move to Arsenal was one of the summer’s more notable transfer sagas. The Gunners held lengthy talks with RB Leipzig and the player’s camp but were put off by his wage demands and Leipzig’s unwillingness to budge on their €70–80 million release clause. Arsenal have since turned their attention to Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.

With Arsenal out of the picture, Manchester United are now in pole position to sign the 21-year-old, who registered 27 goal contributions last season. Newcastle United also remain interested, but United’s urgency and financial backing could give them the edge.

A Potential Shake-Up at Old Trafford

If United are successful in landing Sesko, it could spell the end of Rasmus Hojlund’s time at Old Trafford. The Danish forward struggled for form last season and is reportedly among the players United are willing to offload this summer.
