Newcastle United’s Siem de Jong will be out for four months

Some bad news coming from St James’ Park – Newcastle United midfielder Siem de Jong has been ruled out for four months with a serious groin injury.

The Netherlands international joined the Magpies on a six-year deal from the Dutch giants Ajax during the summer transfer window. He picked-up the injury during a routine training session, reports The Mirror.

Losing the 25-year-old’s attacking midfielder would be a huge blow to Alan Pardew’s first team, as the Toon attacking options look limited.

However the club have not confirmed the extent of the injury.

De Jong has scored 78 goals in 244 total appearances for Ajax over the past seven seasons.
