Tottenham Hotspur lead race to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur are emerging as frontrunners in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, according to transfer insider Graeme Bailey via TBR Football. The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has drawn significant interest this summer, but Spurs are currently showing the strongest intent to land his signature.

Eze’s Rise at Palace

Eze enjoyed another impressive campaign at Selhurst Park, contributing 17 goals and assists in 31 appearances during the 2023/24 season. Despite a slow start, he finished strong, registering 14 goals and 12 assists in 43 matches across all competitions. His creativity and flair were pivotal as Palace famously lifted the FA Cup, defeating Manchester City in the final – a historic win that secured their place in next season’s Europa League.

£60 Million Release Clause Active

With Eze’s contract running until 2027, any club aiming to secure his services will need to meet his £60 million release clause, which is now active. That figure could rise with performance-related bonuses totalling up to £8 million.

New Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is eager to reinforce the wide forward role and views Eze as a priority target. The England international’s versatility – capable of playing off the left flank or centrally as a No.10 – makes him an attractive option for Spurs’ evolving attacking setup.

Spurs Face Competition but Hold the Edge

While Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Manchester United have also shown interest, Tottenham remain the most committed, with reports suggesting Eze is “very keen” on a move to North London. Talks between the player’s representatives and Spurs are said to be advancing.

There’s also speculation that Tottenham may be willing to part ways with Son Heung-min, who turns 33 next month and enters the final year of his contract. Eze could be viewed as a long-term successor to the South Korean star.
