Why Tottenham want Mikautadze ?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly weighing up a blockbuster move for Villarreal’s summer signing Georges Mikautadze, with an offer that could exceed €50 million next summer, according to Fichajes.

The Georgian international has hit the ground running in Spain following his €30 million switch from Olympique Lyon, instantly proving why he was such a sought-after talent. In just three La Liga appearances, the 24-year-old has already delivered a goal and an assist, showcasing his sharp movement, link-up play, and clinical edge in the final third.

From Lyon breakthrough to Villarreal star

Mikautadze first rose to prominence at Lyon, where he enjoyed a breakout season. Across 47 appearances, he contributed to 28 goals, establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s most exciting attacking talents. Villarreal wasted little time in snapping him up this past summer, and their gamble has already paid off.

His rapid adaptation has not only bolstered Villarreal’s attack but also attracted the attention of Europe’s elite, with Tottenham now leading the chase.

Spurs are in the market for a versatile forward to complement their current attacking options. New boss Thomas Frank is keen on adding a striker with a different profile—someone who can stretch defences, link play, and provide goals. Mikautadze’s all-round game fits that description perfectly.

Tottenham were linked with him in the summer and have continued to monitor his progress closely. Reports suggest they are prepared to go as high as €60 million to secure his signature next year.

Villarreal face a tough decision

While Villarreal are unlikely to welcome bids for their star forward just one season after signing him, the prospect of nearly doubling their investment could be difficult to resist. Spurs, meanwhile, see Mikautadze as a long-term solution to strengthen their frontline and will not hesitate to test Villarreal’s resolve.
