Barcelona midfielder Xavi has announced that he will leave the Catalans to join Qatari side Al-Sadd on a two-year deal this summer.
The 35-year-old, who has won 23 trophies during his time with the Blaugrana, has confirmed he is bringing down the curtain following his glorious 17-year career at the Camp Nou.

In today’s press conference, the Spaniard said: “The decision is definitive yet difficult. I’m happy to have stayed at Barca this year. It was tough to make a decision. I want to thank the fans. They’ve been great to me.”
The veteran midfielder has won eight league titles and three Champions League silverware with Barca. He could add two more titles to his achievements as the Copa del Rey final and Champions League 2015 final are due to be played ahead of his departure.
Xavi has made over 750 appearances for the Spanish giants – more than any other player in the club’s history.
