Arsenal Eye £21m Kim Min-jae Transfer From Bayern Munich in January
Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a January move for Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his back line.

Why Arsenal Need Defensive Cover
The Gunners have been resolute defensively, which will be vital as they defend their Premier League title and chase Champions League glory after finishing runners-up in 2025/26. With William Saliba sidelined, Ezri Konsa has adapted quickly alongside Gabriel Magalhaes since joining from Aston Villa. However, Piero Hincapie’s injury could prompt another addition.
Bayern Munich Open to Selling Kim Min-jae
According to Christian Falk, Arsenal are keen on the South Korean and hope to take advantage of his situation in Munich. His contract runs until June 2028, no renewal talks have taken place, and he is a back-up under Vincent Kompany. Bayern are therefore reportedly prepared to sell for around £21 million.
What Kim Min-jae Brings to Arsenal
The 29-year-old, a former Napoli player, is dominant in the air, physically imposing and quick enough to cover plenty of ground. He is comfortable defending high up the pitch, calm in possession and experienced enough to settle immediately.
With no clear return date for Saliba and uncertainty over Hincapie’s recovery, Kim could provide valuable cover in the domestic cups and during the congested winter schedule.
Our Opinion
At £21m, this looks like shrewd business for a proven squad option rather than a long-term investment. The key question is whether Kim is willing to accept another limited role at Arsenal, or would rather join a club offering regular football.
