Arsenal join race for Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike

Arsenal are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of attacking reinforcements this summer, with Hugo Ekitike emerging as a serious target.

According to German outlet Bild, the Gunners are now “seriously involved” in the race to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt striker — joining a crowded field that includes Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Arsenal Eyeing Options Beyond Sesko and Gyokeres

Mikel Arteta’s side has been actively searching for a top-class centre-forward ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. While RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres have been the two most talked-about targets, Bild now claims Ekitike has entered the frame following a standout season in Germany.

The 23-year-old Frenchman enjoyed a breakthrough year with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions. Known for his flair, close control, and ability to hold up play, the former PSG forward has quickly established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attackers.

Reality Check: Agent Influence and Arsenal’s Caution

Despite the buzz, there are growing suggestions that Ekitike’s links to Arsenal may be agent-driven rather than evidence of a concrete push from the North London club.

Arsenal have long been interested in Sesko but are hesitant to meet RB Leipzig’s reported asking price of £68–85 million. Gyokeres remains the back-up plan, and his £68 million release clause makes him a more financially realistic target than either Sesko or Ekitike.

Frankfurt, for their part, are reportedly unwilling to sell Ekitike for anything less than £85 million — a figure Arsenal are unlikely to entertain, especially with other big-money priorities looming, such as the potential addition of a high-calibre winger.

Verdict: Ekitike Move Unlikely — For Now

Unless Arsenal fail to land both Sesko and Gyokeres, a move for Ekitike appears improbable. The club is intent on smart spending and will avoid overpaying in a summer where financial discipline could be the difference between completing multiple deals or none at all.

For now, Ekitike remains a name on the radar — but not a top target.
