Leeds United lead race to sign Strasbourg star Dilane Bakwa

Leeds United are pushing hard to land Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa, with reports suggesting they are currently in pole position ahead of Nottingham Forest. The newly promoted side are eager to cap off their transfer window with another attacking addition, and Bakwa has emerged as a prime target.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout campaign in Ligue 1 last season, registering six goals and nine assists. His performances marked a major step up from his debut year at Strasbourg and have naturally attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

Leeds ready to meet €35m price tag

Strasbourg value Bakwa at around €35 million, and Leeds are understood to be willing to meet that figure. Having already secured Noah Okafor from AC Milan, the Yorkshire club are keen to add further depth out wide. While Okafor is more comfortable on the left, Bakwa thrives on the right but can also slot in across the frontline, giving Mikel Arteta valuable tactical flexibility.

For Leeds, signing Bakwa would represent a significant outlay but also a statement of intent as they look to establish themselves back in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest keeping tabs

Leeds aren’t alone in the race. Nottingham Forest are monitoring developments closely and could yet make a move. Forest have already strengthened their wide options with the arrival of Dan Ndoye but see Bakwa as a different profile who could further elevate their attack.

At this stage, Leeds are firmly ahead, but Forest’s interest means the situation could change quickly. If the Whites can move swiftly and finalise terms, Bakwa could well be the next big arrival at Elland Road.
