Liverpool Eye Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi as Potential Alexis Mac Allister Successor

Reds Monitoring Swiss Playmaker

Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Aston Villa attacking midfielder Johan Manzambi, with the Sun claiming he has emerged as a possible replacement for Alexis Mac Allister. The Swiss international arrived at Villa Park in the summer and has settled quickly under Unai Emery.

Impressive Start at Villa Park

The 21-year-old has contributed three goals and three assists this season, and his latest display against Newcastle United underlined his quality. He created two chances, had three shots and scored the only goal in a 1-0 win. That strike also placed him in an exclusive group of Villa players to score or assist in each of their first three Premier League starts for the club.

Manzambi began his career at Servette before developing through Freiburg’s youth ranks, making his senior debut in 2024. His performances at the World Cup, where he scored three times, led teammate Breel Embolo to call him “incredible”.

Mac Allister Uncertainty

Interest from Real Madrid in Mac Allister is said to be behind Liverpool’s long-term planning, with Andoni Iraola’s staff reportedly keen on Manzambi’s creativity. The Reds are expected to continue monitoring him before deciding on a move next summer.

Can Liverpool Prise Manzambi Away from Villa?

Prising Manzambi away from Villa will be far from straightforward. Having joined less than three months ago, he is unlikely to be available cheaply, and any bid would need to comfortably exceed his £54m Transfermarkt valuation. Still, he looks like a smart fit for a side wanting more attacking thrust from midfield, and Liverpool would be wise to keep a close eye on him.
