Tottenham ready to move for Anatoliy Trubin this summer

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Benfica shot-stopper Anatoliy Trubin as they look to reshape their squad ahead of next season, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola. The Ukrainian goalkeeper has emerged as a top target — but landing him won’t come cheap.

From Shakhtar to Stardom

Trubin’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. Coming through the Shakhtar Donetsk academy, he made 94 appearances for the Ukrainian giants, claiming two league titles and a Ukrainian Cup before earning his move to Benfica in 2023.

His Champions League heroics have cemented his reputation as one of Europe’s finest young goalkeepers. Most memorably, his stoppage-time header helped Benfica beat Real Madrid 4-2, sealing their place in the knockout round — a moment that put him firmly on Europe’s radar.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

This season alone, Trubin registered 13 clean sheets — the fourth-most in the recently concluded Primeira Liga — and boasts a 75.3% save percentage. For a Spurs side that narrowly avoided relegation with a 1-0 win over Everton on the final day, that kind of reliability between the sticks is desperately needed.

The Vicario Factor

Any deal, however, hinges on Guglielmo Vicario’s future. Inter Milan are reportedly keen on the Italian, and should he depart, Trubin has been identified as his direct replacement.

The stumbling block? Benfica have slapped an £86 million release clause on their prized goalkeeper — a significant outlay for a club in Spurs’ current position.
