Tottenham Remain Confident in Pursuit of Man City’s Savinho
Tottenham Hotspur are not giving up hope in their chase for Manchester City winger Savinho, according to transfer insider Mike Brown.
Under new manager Thomas Frank, Spurs have made an impressive start to the season. Two games in, they boast back-to-back wins without conceding a goal, sitting second in the Premier League on goal difference. Despite the strong start, Frank has had limited backing from the board, with Mohammed Kudus the only permanent signing so far. Joao Palhinha has arrived on loan, but the squad also suffered major setbacks with Son Heung-min departing and James Maddison sidelined long-term due to a knee injury.

Spurs Target Savinho to Bolster Attack
Brown reports that Savinho has been identified as Tottenham’s top target to strengthen their wide options. Manchester City, however, remain reluctant to sell the Brazilian forward this late in the transfer window. Even so, Spurs are continuing negotiations, hopeful of striking a deal before the deadline. Interestingly, City have already begun exploring replacements, suggesting the door is not fully closed on a potential move.
Why Spurs Want Savinho
Tottenham currently have Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, Kudus, and Dejan Kulusevski as options out wide. But Kulusevski has struggled with injuries, while Tel and Odobert are still developing. Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon remain on the books, though they don’t appear central to Frank’s long-term plans.
That leaves room for a versatile winger like Savinho. A left-footed right-sided attacker, the 20-year-old is equally comfortable cutting inside or operating on the left. Known for his pace, dribbling ability, and creativity in tight spaces, he also contributes defensively – a trait Frank values highly.
A Potential Game-Changer for Spurs
Savinho impressed in flashes during his Premier League outings last season, showing glimpses of his enormous potential. With time and regular minutes, he has the qualities to grow into a top-class player. For Spurs, securing him would not only add depth but also provide an exciting long-term attacking option.
As deadline day approaches, Tottenham’s persistence could yet pay off. If they land Savinho, it would be a significant boost for Frank’s project in North London.
