Everton eye shock move for Man City defender Nathan Ake

Everton are weighing up a move for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, according to transfer expert Mike Brown.

The 30-year-old, who rose through Chelsea’s academy before making his name at Bournemouth, joined City in 2020 after the Cherries’ relegation. Since then, he has become a dependable figure at the Etihad, winning every major trophy under Pep Guardiola.

However, fitness issues hampered Ake last season, and he has since slipped down the pecking order. With his contract running until 2027, City are said to be open to offers if the right bid comes in before the transfer window closes.

As a result, midfielder James Garner has been filling in at left-back during the opening weeks of the season, highlighting the need for a natural defender on that side.

Ake, a left-footed centre-back who can also cover at full-back, fits the profile perfectly. His experience, versatility, and proven track record in the Premier League make him an ideal candidate to strengthen Everton’s backline.

The price tag

Transfermarkt currently values the Dutch international at around £22 million, a figure that could prove to be good business for the Merseyside club if they can finalise a deal.
