Wesley to Man Utd? Red Devils Weigh Up £50m January Move for Roma Star
United Weigh Up Winter Move
Manchester United have reportedly identified Roma full-back Wesley as a priority target, according to Football Insider. The Brazil international is also attracting interest from Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Why Full-Back Is a Problem Area
United failed to land a new left-back last summer, and the issue has been exposed with Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu both sidelined. The club may also want cover on the opposite flank, with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui both entering the final year of their contracts next July. A player who can operate on either side would suit that need.
Wesley’s Roma Form
The 23-year-old arrived from Flamengo in 2025 and registered seven goal contributions in 39 appearances during his first season, mostly as a left wing-back. This term he has managed a single assist in eight games, though his defensive numbers stand out, averaging four duels won, four recoveries and two tackles per match.
Can United Afford a January Deal?
Roma are reportedly demanding £50m, and that figure could climb. Selling mid-season is rarely straightforward, so a move in January looks difficult to pull off.
Why Summer May Suit United Better
United clearly need a dependable full-back, and Wesley’s blend of attacking intent and defensive work rate makes sense on paper. Realistically, though, a summer approach feels more plausible than a winter raid. With Arsenal and Newcastle also circling, United may need to move decisively if they want to beat their rivals to a player who could be worth every penny of that fee.
