West Ham Eye Loan Move for Nottingham Forest Midfielder Ibrahim Sangare

West Ham United are weighing up a loan move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré, with talks already underway according to The Sun’s Jack Rosser.

The Ivorian joined Forest from PSV Eindhoven in 2023 amid big expectations, but injuries and illness limited his impact last season. He managed just 22 Premier League starts and 10 appearances off the bench, leaving fans still waiting to see the best of him.

Forest Open to Exit

Forest’s midfield has become increasingly crowded this summer following several new signings, including Douglas Luiz from Juventus. That has pushed Sangaré further down the pecking order, making a departure before the window closes a real possibility.

West Ham are keen to pounce, with Rosser reporting that the Hammers have proposed a loan deal that could include an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met. Forest, meanwhile, are open to letting the 26-year-old move on, provided the terms are right.

Why Sangaré Fits West Ham

The Hammers’ midfield issues were on full display in their opening-day defeat to Sunderland, and despite tweaks from Graham Potter in the Chelsea clash, they were again outmuscled in central areas. Reinforcements are clearly needed.

Sangaré ticks plenty of boxes. Standing at 6ft 3in, he is a strong ball-winner, capable of breaking up play and shielding the backline — qualities West Ham currently lack. While not primarily known for dictating tempo, his PSV days proved he can use the ball intelligently under pressure.

Injury Risk but Big Potential

Concerns remain over his fitness record, but there’s hope he can put those troubles behind him. Encouragingly, Sangaré has featured in Forest’s opening two league games this season, suggesting he may finally be ready for a run of consistent minutes.

If West Ham strike a deal, the key question will be the price tag. With his Transfermarkt value set at £20m, Forest could hold out for a bigger fee should a permanent transfer clause be triggered.
