Arsenal Plot Move for Liverpool Wonderkid Rio Ngumoha in 2027 Transfer Window
Arsenal have been credited with long-term interest in Liverpool’s teenage winger Rio Ngumoha, with reports suggesting the Gunners could test the Reds’ resolve when the transfer market reopens in 2027.

Arteta’s Left-Wing Puzzle
Mikel Arteta’s side offloaded both Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard during the summer window, leaving Christos Tzolis as their only recognised option on the left flank. The Greek forward has made a promising start at the Emirates, yet his lack of top-flight pedigree means Arsenal are unlikely to rule out further reinforcements. Journalist Alan Nixon has claimed the north Londoners are monitoring Ngumoha’s situation closely, waiting to pounce should his opportunities at Anfield become scarce.
Ngumoha’s Role Under Threat
Since breaking through last season, Ngumoha has found regular football harder to come by following Liverpool’s additions of Bradley Barcola and Victor Munoz, alongside Cody Gakpo’s strong early-season form. Andoni Iraola has so far preferred more experienced options on the flanks, restricting the 18-year-old largely to cameo appearances domestically, even though he has featured in the Champions League. Liverpool remain determined to keep hold of their academy graduate, and talks over a new contract are reportedly progressing, though nothing has been finalised.
A Deal Worth Chasing
Valued at around £26 million, Ngumoha would represent shrewd business given the ceiling he possesses. His low centre of gravity and close control make him a nightmare to dispossess in tight areas, while his willingness to track back suggests he could slot into Arteta’s demanding system without much adaptation. Personally, I’d argue Arsenal are right to keep tabs on him now rather than waiting until his stock rises further, though prising him away from Anfield while a new contract is on the table will be far from straightforward. Liverpool’s stance suggests any deal remains firmly in the realm of speculation for now.
