Chelsea Eye Shock Swoop for Tottenham Target Francesco Camarda

Chelsea have entered the race to sign AC Milan striker Francesco Camarda, a player also being tracked by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, according to TEAMtalk.

Camarda’s Rise Through The Ranks

The 18-year-old forward began his career at Afforese before switching to Milan’s academy aged just seven. He rose through the ranks to become the youngest player ever to appear in Serie A, earning his senior debut back in 2023.

Despite that early promise, Camarda has found consistent first-team football hard to come by at San Siro. He spent last season on loan at Lecce to gain valuable experience, and although new head coach Ruben Amorim opted to retain him this campaign as backup to Goncalo Ramos, minutes have remained scarce. He has, however, earned his first senior cap for Italy, underlining the talent Milan are working with.

Premier League Clubs Circling

TEAMtalk report that Chelsea, along with Manchester City’s City Football Group, previously tried to lure Camarda to England, though he chose to remain at his boyhood club. That interest from Stamford Bridge has not gone away, and the Blues are now joined in the chase by Tottenham, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Standing at 6ft 2in and predominantly right-footed, Camarda has the physical profile and technical upside to develop into a genuine top-level number nine.

For Chelsea, whose current options include João Pedro, Danny Welbeck and the injury-prone Emmanuel Emegha, a young forward with this ceiling would represent smart long-term planning rather than a panic buy. Tottenham, meanwhile, already boast Dominic Solanke, Richarlison and new signing Omar Marmoush, yet neither Solanke nor Richarlison has convinced consistently this season.

Given the growing competition, it wouldn’t be surprising if Milan demanded a significant fee to part with their academy prospect — and whichever London club moves first may hold the advantage.
