Liverpool Plot Summer Move for Aston Villa Midfielder Johan Manzambi
Reds Eye Swiss Star as Mac Allister Doubts Grow
Liverpool are reportedly lining up a bold move for Aston Villa attacking midfielder Johan Manzambi, according to the Sun. The 21-year-old Switzerland international has made a sparkling start to life in the Premier League since arriving from Freiburg in the summer.

Manzambi’s Villa Impact
Manzambi has contributed three goals and three assists this season, and his latest display came against Newcastle United. He created two chances, had three shots and scored the only goal in Villa’s 1-0 victory. The strike made him the fourth Villa player to score or assist in each of his first three Premier League starts for the club, a feat previously achieved by Dalian Atkinson, Dion Dublin and Danny Ings.
Why Liverpool Are Interested
The Sun, citing Swiss sources, claims Andoni Iraola and his coaching staff are admirers, with the club’s hierarchy keen to track his progress ahead of a possible summer approach. Uncertainty over Alexis Mac Allister’s future is said to be behind the interest, with Real Madrid reportedly keen on the Argentine. Manzambi is viewed as a potential replacement.
Villa Unlikely to Sell Cheaply
Any deal would be far from straightforward. Villa invested heavily to land Manzambi less than three months ago, and he is already central to Unai Emery’s plans. With a Transfermarkt valuation of £54m, Liverpool would need to table a substantial offer to even tempt the Villans into talks.
Our View
This looks like early-stage interest rather than anything imminent. Manzambi’s form is hard to ignore, and his creativity would suit a Liverpool midfield in transition, but Villa are under no pressure to sell. If he keeps producing at this rate, his price will only climb, and Liverpool may have to move quickly if they are serious.
