Man Utd Join Arsenal and Liverpool in £43m Race for Stuttgart Defender Finn Jeltsch

Manchester United are reportedly in a three-way scrap with Arsenal and Liverpool for the signature of VfB Stuttgart centre-back Finn Jeltsch, according to Italian outlet Tutto Juve.

Who Is Finn Jeltsch?

The 20-year-old began his youth career at SV Raitersaich before joining Nurnberg’s academy aged nine. He worked his way through their ranks and eventually broke into the first team a couple of seasons ago. His displays in the 2.Bundesliga caught Stuttgart’s eye, and they snapped him up during last winter’s window. Although largely used as a squad option at MHP Arena initially, Jeltsch has started every fixture for Stuttgart across all competitions so far this campaign.

Transfer Interest Heats Up

Tutto Juve suggest his rapid progress hasn’t slipped under the radar, with United, Arsenal and Liverpool all monitoring his situation, alongside Bayern Munich and Juventus on the continent. Jeltsch is contracted until 2030, meaning Stuttgart hold a strong hand and feel no pressure to sell. Still, a bid in the region of £43million (€50m) could persuade them to reconsider. Standing at 6ft 2in, the right-footer is comfortable at centre-back or right-back, possesses good feet, drives forward confidently from deep and prefers engaging attackers rather than sitting off.

Why Man Utd and Liverpool Need Defensive Reinforcements

United face uncertainty at the back with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez out of contract next summer and Matthijs de Ligt battling injuries. Liverpool’s options look equally shaky, with Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez both sidelined for spells, Ronald Araujo only on loan, and Virgil van Dijk nearing the end of his top-level years.
