Man Utd Transfer News: Youssouf Fofana ‘Fully Convinced’ January Move from AC Milan
Man Utd Plot Winter Move for Sevilla Loanee
Manchester United are reportedly preparing a January bid for AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana, according to Vamos Mi Sevilla. The France international is currently on loan at Sevilla, and the Spanish outlet claims United are “fully convinced” about signing him.

United’s Busy Midfield Rebuild
United spent heavily in midfield last summer, bringing in Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans within days of each other before a late swoop for the injured Carlos Baleba. Santos and Tielemans have settled well, but Baleba is yet to make his debut.
Fofana Finding Form in La Liga
The 27-year-old joined Milan from Monaco for £21m two years ago and made 88 appearances before falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim. Since arriving in Spain, he has started four league games, averaging almost five duels won and five recoveries per outing. He also scored in a 3-1 defeat to Barcelona.
Transfer Hurdles for United
Sevilla reportedly have no option to buy, so Milan could end the loan early if United present an attractive offer. Compensation to Sevilla may then be needed, and Milan are likely to want their money back on the £21m they paid.
Why Fofana Makes Sense for Old Trafford
With Manuel Ugarte facing a long spell on the sidelines, United lack a proven defensive midfielder. Baleba should be a quality addition once fit, while Santos is still inexperienced and appears more comfortable in a role with fewer defensive duties.
In our view, Fofana would bring welcome balance and experience to the squad. The cost is the sticking point, and United might decide a summer move is the smarter play than paying a premium in January. For now, this remains a report rather than a confirmed bid.
