Manchester United Eye January Move for Borussia Dortmund Striker Serhou Guirassy

Manchester United have been struggling for goals early this season, picking up just one Premier League victory from their opening five fixtures. That underwhelming return has left head coach Michael Carrick with plenty to think about during the international break as he assesses where his squad needs strengthening.

With the winter window approaching, reinforcing the forward line looks set to be a priority for the Old Trafford hierarchy, and reporter Graeme Bailey claims United are weighing up a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy.

The 30-year-old has continued his prolific form into the new campaign, contributing four goals and two assists across all competitions. He remains Dortmund’s most influential attacking presence, though there’s a suggestion he’d consider a switch to England should the right offer materialise.

Why Guirassy Would Suit United’s Attack

Guirassy could prove an excellent signing for Manchester United. Neither Benjamin Sesko nor Joshua Zirkzee has offered much of a cutting edge in the box this term, so the Guinean international’s arrival would be a genuine upgrade.

He brings physical presence and aerial dominance that United’s current strikers lack, alongside the composure to finish clinically once presented with chances. Beyond his own output, Guirassy’s hold-up play and awareness for others could bring the best out of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, giving United’s attack a sharper edge.

A Tricky Deal, But Not Impossible

Dortmund remain genuine Bundesliga title challengers, so prising away their leading forward mid-season won’t be straightforward. Still, there’s every chance Guirassy is eyeing a Premier League switch next summer if not sooner.

Transfermarkt currently values him at around £27 million, though Dortmund are unlikely to let their star man leave cheaply. Personally, I’d expect United to hold fire until the summer rather than risk unsettling Dortmund’s squad mid-campaign — but a firm approach in January wouldn’t surprise me either, given how badly Carrick needs a proven finisher.
