Manchester United step up pursuit of Denzel Dumfries

Manchester United have reportedly accelerated their efforts to acquire Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.

The Red Devils currently have Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their primary right-back options, but the later was rumoured to be on the move in January. However, due to Dalot’s recent injury, Wan-Bissaka got the chance to play in the lineup, which ensured he stayed at Old Trafford when the transfer window closed.

Despite starting in seven of Man United’s nine Premier League matches since the World Cup break, Wan-Bissaka’s future at the club remains uncertain. Therefore, the club is exploring the possibility of signing a new right-back in the upcoming summer transfer window, and Dumfries has been identified as a potential target.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Man United are prepared to up their efforts to secure a deal for the 26-year-old defender.

The Dutchman, who has a contract with Inter until June 2025, has recorded two goals and three assists in 25 appearances for the club this season.

Chelsea have also been linked with Dumfries, with reports claiming they were willing to offer Trevoh Chalobah in exchange. However, the Serie A giants are only interested in a cash-only deal and has rejected the offer.

The Nerazzurri will not accept an offer less than €50m (£44m) and is now waiting for potential offers.
