Arsenal Linked With £59m Leny Yoro as Man Utd Defender Eyes Old Trafford Exit
Leny Yoro has emerged as a surprise name on Arsenal’s radar, according to Caught Offside. The Manchester United centre-back is reportedly open to leaving Old Trafford as his frustrations continue.
Why Is Leny Yoro Looking to Leave Man Utd?
Yoro was among Europe’s most coveted defenders at Lille, with Real Madrid long linked before United won the race in a deal worth a reported £59m including add-ons. Life in Manchester has been far from straightforward, though. The 20-year-old is now a regular substitute, with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez preferred by manager Michael Carrick. His only start this season came in the 3-2 Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton, where he was culpable for positional errors.
Man Utd Defensive Competition: Ramon and De Ligt Return
Pressure on his place is set to increase. United are reportedly eyeing Como’s Jacobo Ramon, while Matthijs de Ligt is expected back from a long-term back injury this month. Paris Saint-Germain are also said to remain admirers of the Frenchman, offering a potential alternative should he push for an exit.
Will Arsenal Sign Leny Yoro? Why It Looks Unlikely
Despite the headlines, a move to the Emirates appears improbable. Arsenal signed Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa after William Saliba’s back injury at the World Cup, and Saliba has returned to individual training with a comeback possible next month. Mikel Arteta also has Cristhian Mosquera, Marli Salmon, Jurrien Timber and Ben White able to cover the right-sided centre-back role, so it is hardly a priority area for the Gunners.
Leny Yoro Transfer Opinion: Loan or PSG Move More Realistic
Yoro’s desire for regular football is understandable at 20, when development minutes matter. However, the Arsenal link feels agent-driven rather than genuine. A loan or a switch to PSG seems far more realistic if United decide to sanction his departure. Whether the Red Devils would accept a loss on their investment remains the bigger question.
